ABOUT MCINNES LEGAL

A law practice
you can trust.

Independent, family-run and focused on personal injury compensation.

WHO WE ARE

Personal attention, practical advice and experienced representation.

McInnes Legal is an independent family-run law practice committed to helping people who have been injured at work, on the road, in a public place or because of a crime.

Because the practice is small, your file is handled personally by the senior lawyer, not a legal assistant or junior lawyer. Your lawyer keeps up to date and takes your calls personally, returning missed calls quickly — that's a promise. Being a smaller firm lets us focus on securing results rather than major corporate branding, keeping costs to a minimum so you keep the majority of your compensation rather than paying over-inflated legal fees.

The practice has grown through word of mouth rather than fancy advertising — clients recommending us to their family and friends is the best endorsement we could ask for. We are empathetic and compassionate, taking on both straightforward and complex cases, and we're proud of the results we've achieved for our clients.

For all your personal injury and legal needs, please contact us. We are always happy to listen.

ABOUT CAROLYN McINNES

Principal solicitor

Carolyn McInnes was admitted to practice in 2003 and has since worked predominantly in personal injury litigation, including roles with the WorkCover Authority, Herbert Geer Lawyers, Nowicki Carbone and JN Zigouras.

She has more than 16 years of experience in personal injury law and specialises in WorkCover and TAC matters, with a particular interest in stress-related workplace injuries and compensation that helps cover everyday expenses and medical costs.

Carolyn represented Pasquale De Petro in the landmark bullying and harassment case De Petro v. International Airline Services, County Court — winning more than $325,000 in common-law damages for an aircraft cleaner, the largest payout of its kind at the time, and setting a new precedent for bullying cases. She has also represented those affected by sexual harassment and assault, and represented multiple victims injured by James Gargasoulas, who drove through a crowd on Bourke Street on 20 January 2017. Carolyn has secured six-figure compensation for clients on more than one occasion, including 13 years of weekly payments from the Medical Panel for an injured worker dating back to 2001, amounting to over $300,000.

Carolyn has a particular interest in helping stress-related injured workers. Far too many of these claims are rejected by WorkCover, but with the right legal representation, Carolyn has seen many accepted without the need to go to court.
